This workshop has been requested by many of you. Annette will be teaching the basics of styling and composition for those of you interested in pursuing a career as a stylist. We will cover lifestyle, interiors, still life, and food styling. Annette will be discussing the business aspect of styling with tips on billing, fees, production, and workflow. There will be a lesson on "how to produce a photo shoot" from start to finish along with valuable lessons applicable to your everyday styling/production business. Plus, hands-on styling with a professional photographer capturing your images. Sarah Dorio will be there to answer any photography questions you may have along the way. This is strictly styling, therefore, styling and production will be the focus of this workshop. 

There will be excursions to the farmers markets, along with a free day which includes the choice of excursions. We will also offer a trip to a local antiques market where you will prop shop with Annette. All lessons will be conducted on the grounds and in the gorgeous photo studio situated in the stone barn. 

Total cost: $3,275 (nonrefundable initial deposit: $1,500 + remaining deposit due one month prior)

The Instructors:

Annette Joseph, acclaimed food and prop stylist, along with Sara Dorio food, interiors, and lifestyle photographer, will be teaching basics intermediate and advanced styling and photography techniques.

The Setting –  The Fortress

The Fortress, the Joseph's Tuscan summer home and workshop location, is nestled in the heart of Northern Tuscany a region known as the Lunigiana. The medieval stone compound sits on 27 acres, on the grounds are Roman ruins, a river and the vineyard. The Fortress has a breathtaking view of the Apennine mountains & the marble-topped Apuane Alps and the valley below. The property is surrounded by olive groves, chestnut trees, and fruit orchards. The Fortress was a medieval defensive tower in a region that had over 120 castles and kingdoms to protect in the 15th century. On the property there are 3 outbuildings, a massive terrace, and a private living quarters. You can wander the grounds with camera in hand and capture the Italian country life during your stay

1:30 pm - Arrive at The Fortress - Light lunch
2:30- 6:30 pm - Relax, Nap, Unpack
6:30 pm - Meet and Greet Aperitivo on the terrace - cocktails and nibbles
7:30 pm - Welcome dinner on the terrace to follow

Thursday, July 13th
9:00- 10:00 am - Breakfast
10:00 - noon - Lectures and PowerPoint presentation on styling and composition for photography
12:00 pm - Lunch on the grounds
1:00 - 4:00 pm - Hands-on demo styling for still life (you will be participating in set-ups all afternoon)
4:00 - 6:30 - Free time
6:30 - Aperitivo on the terrace
7:30 - Dinner on your own

Friday, July 14th
9:00 - 10:00 am – Breakfast
10:00 - noon - Morning group forum: workflow for production, business tips for styling, editorial styling, working with editorial publications, how to pitch, & getting the job
12:00 - 1:00 pm - Picnic on the grounds
1:00 - 5:00 pm - You will be producing a real photoshoot on your own
5:00 - 6:00 - Free time
6:30 - Aperitivo on the terrace
7:30 - Group Dinner on the terrace

Saturday, July 15th
9:00 - 10:00 am – Breakfast
10:00- 4:30pm - All day antique prop shopping excursion. Lesson includes putting together a prop room. Lunch at the Flea Market. 
5:30 - 6:30 - Free time
6:30 - Dinner on your own

Sunday, July 16th
