When floral designer
Amy Osaba was little she used to play with all the flowers in the fields at her grandmother's daylily farm in Arkansas. Her grandmother was one of those strong salt-of-the-earth kind of women, and Amy always wanted to be like her. Of course she passed down a love of flowers and art to Amy's mother who in turn gave her the bug. She considers herself one lucky gal that comes from a good line of strong, earthy women. Once upon a time she was also a ballet dancer. Dance has made its way into what she does now. She loves how ranunculus dance above the other flowers and how a coral charm has its own perfect, papery balance. Flowers have their own sense of movement and Amy certainly knows how to make her own gorgeous rhythms come to life through her creations. She, alongside friends Erica Loesing and Maria Taylor, run a full service event design house where they makes brides and other lucky clients' dreams come true. Take it away, Amy!1.Who would you want to play you in a movie?Arghhh this is a hard one. Probably Angelina Jolie because I think she’s gorgeous. But then mix in Kristen Wiig because… well, Ahem… I’m kinda good at impressions, plus she is way more relatable and I think shes really cool.2.I wish I could...See the future3.My first style memory is…Not necessarily a good one…. I think I was in middle school, 6th grade or so. I spent the entire night before the first day of school honing in on my outfit. It had to be the defining outfit to set the tone of the year. I woke up at the crack of dawn to do my hair and use a whole bottle of hairspray to make it stay precisely where I wanted it. I came down stairs to my dad getting the camera out. “Dad What are you doing?!?!” (in my best irritated 6th grader voice) “I am taking a picture of that outfit so in 10 or 20 years you will look at it and die laughing” He was right. I found that photo about 10 years later. Man it was horrifying. Thank God I, 1. Wasn’t afraid to take risks and 2. Grew into some good taste4.I could not live with out my....Children… and coffee5.I could live without...Bitter, angry, insecure people who bring you down that can’t get excited for others successes. No one has time for that. Lets all encourage and help each other. Others helped me along the way and I want to do thesame for others coming up thru the ranks. We all start at the bottom sometime. It is how you react to life’s circumstances that define it.Pick a photo or décor objet, or piece of clothing that defines your style.
I couldn't pick just one. The florals obviously inspire me and I wear boots almost all the time, don't think I could do what I do without wearing boots. My sweet friend Ginny Branch snapped that picture of me above which captures me perfectly. I always wear hats because I hate doing my hair.
