Creativity Retreat September 4-9, 2022

We are so excited to announce a brand new retreat with the Easel & Lens. Still Life & Styling is a new collaboration with La Fortezza Retreats and Julian Hyzler.

This incredible retreat will take place here at La Fortezza, September 4-9, 2022. You read that right, it’s taking place THIS YEAR! If you are interested in drawing, painting, and you enjoy fabulous food and wine, then this is the retreat for you. This is open to all levels of artists and will be led by the wonderful and experienced Julian Hyzler. I will be styling still life florals. If you want to learn, the styling can be hands on, or you can simply paint the beautiful set ups in the studio.

Since La Fortezza is set in the Lunigiana region of Northern Tuscany, you will be immersed in the wild Italian landscape. We will combine Julian’s teaching experience with my styling skills to create a memorable still-life painting course. The retreat will be filled with creative inspiration and it’s also equipped for a memorable getaway.

All of your materials including oils, acrylics, watercolor, charcoal and pastel, will be provided in a studio setting full of light, eclectic atmosphere, and possibilities. There will be trips to local villages and flea markets to collect objects. You will get to enjoy stunning landscapes and our organic vineyard. And there will be dedicated studio time to push our still-life work, and so much more. From beginners to experienced artists, everyone will enjoy a friendly, relaxed and positive environment to  develop and hone your skills
