Tear Sheets: Color in the Kitchen

Here are two very different kitchens that I've styled for Better Homes and Gardens. The first kitchen is cheerful, colorful, and cozy while the second is glamourous and expansive with a subdued palette. My challenge is to bring out the best of both. For the first kitchen I played up the fun and retro feel with bright glassware, fun bowls, and of course a splash of green to mimic the great wall color. The homeowner was adorable and I wanted the photos to be a reflection of her personality. The second kitchen is a dream kitchen with a large island, marble countertops, and gorgeous custom cabinets. The muted tone of the kitchen was screaming for a pop of color. I love fuchsia, especially when it's layered against creams and grays. It's such an unexpected jolt and it energizes the photo. Sort of reminds me of Gwyneth Paltrow's color choices for her Nashville loft that I helped her renovate. Don't you think?I love the feel of both kitchens, but I want to know which one inspires you?Happy Monday! Stay tuned this week for an incredible cocktail and a peek at some behind the scenes at a true Italian Gelateria. I can't wait to share.
