Julie Holloway is one talented lady. I met her while scouting her home for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Kind of a funny story. When I arrived at her home with my editor, Julie was pretty over excited, which caught me off guard to be honest. Well honestly she was well, rather giddy. Turns out she was a big fan of my blog and my styling work, which was new to me, but made me look like a rock star in front of my editor. If I am really honest I was beyond flattered and embarrassed at the same time. Kitchen and Bath Ideas and of course they loved it so I had a chance to style it up and here you see it in it's glory. I love love love clever bathrooms and this one is really sensational. Julie took a 70's era bathroom and morphed it into this cottagy, swedish-inspired retreat. The room is so bright and airy and the perfect place to relax. Tea roses in a mercury vase always feel fresh and romantic. I thought these feminine touches were right at home in Julie's beautiful bathroom.
I went with white linens because I wanted to keep the calm feel of the space. I wanted it to feel spa-like. The truth is I am a big fan of white towels and linens in general, its a quick fix styling wise as far as giving instant elegance to any space, "white anything rules" is what I always say.
The vintage stool next to the bath felt very European to me. Why mess with a good thing? I always keep the homeowners in mind when styling a project, in the case of a professional designer I always consult them if I want to change anything.
