Yes yes yes Thanksgiving is coming up! So here are a few "BRIGHT" ideas....
I know that in the U.S. Halloween is a really big holiday~ however Thanksgiving is right around the corner and it's time to think about your Thanksgiving menu and of course my favorite part setting the table!
Thanksgiving should be a time of tradition and as always I like to give it a twist, just to keep it fresh and interesting.
Food with a flair~
Turkey is a tradition~ but what about stuffing it with a new flair?
I suggest you take your recipe and add a little zing by adding one of the following combinations.
1. Sweet potatoes and apples & parsnips, diced into 3/4 inch squares, toss them with olive oil and salt.
2. Olives, dried oregano, and feta cheese, roasted pepper
3. Pears, toasted walnuts, and thyme & crispy bacon
4. Roasted corn, roasted pepper, and cilantro, with roasted tomato
5.Preserved lemon, Moroccan spices, brown rice & serve with a mango side of chutney.
Spicing up your turkey may be the easiest and best thing you've created all year.
The Kids Table~
I always think it's fun to do something kooky for the kids, why not a fun take on thanksgiving for the kids table~
*change up the menu and serve up turkey dogs and sweet potato fries, a Thanksgiving they will always remember!
After all if the pilgrims had turkey hot dogs at their disposal they probably would have grilled them up for the family.
Setting the Table~
This year I am thinking something bold! I thinking about shopping the fabric remnant aisle at Hobby Lobby, this year I discovered the fabric aisle at Hobby Lobby~ there are some great fabrics and this year for my Thanksgiving table I am thinking BOLD.
even though this table is bright pink and blue~ the fabric idea is brilliant...and could be done in a fall palette. |
great idea for the kids table, same low vases with a paper runner and crayons. |
add a blue runner to your pumpkins color orchids |
I also discovered that Cost Plus World Market, has a fantastic, affordable sets of colorful napkins, packaged in fours, I bought every color for my table for Thanksgiving.
I love the idea of pinking the edges of a bold fabric and laying it crosswise on my table, using a lovely ribbon, maybe one with a sentiment on it (available at most craft stores, like Hobby Lobby)and tying it around a bright napkin.
For the centerpiece low vases stuffed with bright flowers in fall tones.
For those of you wondering how to set your table like a pro
take note*
I want it BRIGHT! Simple, Happy ....makes for a Happy Thanksgiving for all!
